Hello, I'm Dr. Howard Dennis, your certified high performance coach. We're going through our Charge Sessions, and this is Charge Session #3: COMPETENCE — the first live session of 2026!
Grab your journal and let's learn together.
Our goals today are simple but powerful:
✔ Discover how you engage the drive for competence
✔ Direct you in your most useful areas to apply your competence
✔ Identify where you lack competence — and what you need to learn to grow
Let me take you back to February 1996.
I had just graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, and I was heading down to the beautiful northeast part of Tennessee to open my practice. I was buying an existing practice and immediately becoming business partners with Dr. Charlie Ward — a master of what we call the Gonstead system of chiropractic.
Dr. Ward had worked with Gonstead himself. He was a fellow in the Gonstead system. I was learning directly from t...
We're in The Charge Sessions, and today we're diving into Session #2: CONTROL .
So grab your journal and let's do some good work together.
First, I want to wish everyone a happy holiday season. Merry Christmas, and wherever you're at, have a great one.
I've been thinking a lot about ending this year strong and starting next year with momentum — and this topic of control is perfect for that.
Here's the truth: We are autonomous. We are the captains of our ships.
We've got to stop giving away our power and letting excuses win the stories of our lives.
Because when we do that, we lose control. And when we lose control — or worse, when we're controlling the wrong things — it increases uncertainty, disappointment, and leads to an unfulfilling life.
This is our good work. The work happens before the great things.
Yes, rain happens on the just and the unjust. But the truly successful have control of their mind, their attitudes...
Merry Christmas! I'm Dr. Howard Dennis, your certified high performance coach.
While everyone is unwrapping presents today, I want to invite you to unwrap something even more valuable — clarity about who you are and who you're becoming .
Today, we're going to complete the first session of what we call The Charge Sessions — the 10 Human Drives Assessment.
So grab your journal, pour yourself some coffee (or hot cocoa), and let's do this good work together. This is the perfect time to reflect on the year behind you and prepare for the year ahead.
I've shared this before, but it feels especially meaningful during this season of reflection: Brendon Burchard wrote his book The Charge after suffering a serious four-wheeler accident. The very charges we're going over today are what helped him pull out of a difficult time .
And quite frankly, they helped me too.
When I was facing financial challenges and watching one of my ...
Hello, I'm Dr. Howard Dennis, your certified high performance coach. Today, I want to begin something special with you — a deep dive into the 12 Charge Sessions , a transformative framework that has the power to pull you out of any slump and propel you toward extraordinary results.
We'll actually cover this in 13 or 14 sessions because I want to break the first one into two parts. There's just too much valuable information to rush through.
So pull out your journal, grab a pen, and let's begin.
Before we dive in, I want to share something powerful with you.
I recently heard Brendon Burchard talking about writing his book The Charge , and he shared something I witnessed firsthand. Brendon had suffered a serious brain injury from a four-wheeler accident, and the 10 charges he wrote about in that book literally helped pull him out of his brain injury .
I was actually at that seminar — the Experts Academy, I believe it was in 2011 over La...
What does it mean to truly live with purpose?
This is a question I find myself coming back to again and again — not just as a coach, but as someone who's committed to living a life that matters. And today, I want to share something that's been weighing on my heart, a powerful truth that has the potential to transform how you approach every single day.
It's found in Romans 12:1-2 :
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
This is a blueprint for living with intention, momentum, and meaning that applies to every area of your life, regardless of where you are on your journey.
Let's start with this powerful concept: you are a living sacrifice .
Wh...
Hello, Dr. Howard Dennis, your certified high performance coach. I was listening to Brendon Burchard recently - he's got a new podcast called "Progress Mode." I've just gotten into it, and I highly recommend it. He does a great job.
In his first podcast, he was talking about "faith in the forward position," and it made me think of something I've contemplated before: Hebrews 12:1-2 .
Let me read this to you:
"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
This passage is really interesting. Our brains are designed to move forward, alright? And noti...
Hello, Dr. Howard Dennis, your certified high performance coach. Today we're going through our core sessions, and this makes it the 12th session, which completes a full quarter of the core sessions. This one is on commitment to high performance .
Grab your journal. We're going to work through five to seven questions in about 7-12 minutes. We'll make it short and sweet, but powerful.
My goals for today are to help you:
This is especially important since we're closing out the year and starting a new one. We need great momentum. If we don't have momentum going into next year, things fall flat. Then we let excuses win. We let complaining win, and it becomes a mess.
I've had a couple of clients and friends who have been sharing with me...
Watch Dr. Howard Dennis guide you through Core Session #10 on Persuasion Mastery and discover the preparation secrets of great influencers.
Grab your journal because we're diving into Core Session #10: Persuasion Mastery. This session will take about 7-11 minutes of focused work, but it could transform how you influence others for the rest of your life.
Let me start with something important: some people don't like the words "persuasion" or "influence," but here's the truth - we're all influencing others every single day. The question is: are you doing it effectively and authentically?
Before we dive into the questions, let me clarify something crucial about certified high performance coaching. Remember, it's about consistently exceeding standard norms over the long period while maintaining positive mental health and relationships.
But here's what makes it different: Certified high performance ...
Watch Dr. Howard Dennis share insights from his recertification week and guide you through a powerful forward movement assessment.
This past week was transformative for me. I completed my high performance coaching recertification - Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 PM Eastern - alongside coaches of all ages from around the world. Some were joining from Australia at 1 AM their time.
Their dedication was absolutely inspiring. It's amazing to see that many people committed to upping their game in life.
This experience reminded me of what high performance truly means: exceeding norms continuously over the long haul while maintaining your positive mental health and relationships.
This isn't about doing great at work while sacrificing your family, or focusing on just one area of your life. This is about being whole. It's holistic.
During the recertification, I reflected on ...
