We just had a big snowstorm come through that shut down my chiropractic practice for a day. Sometimes change is brought upon us—weather, unexpected events, life circumstances. And when that happens, we can allow it to derail our great habits.
But here's what separates high performers from everyone else: We don't wait for change to happen TO us. We make it happen.
We're talking about being proactive in our lives and making change happen in a purposeful way. For instance, if you work out at home, you don't let the weather dictate whether you exercise or not. You're proactive when faced with challenges.
When I was in chiropractic school, I made a decision that changed the trajectory of my entire life. I joined an adjusting club called Gonstead Club.
It was uncomfortable. I had to meet new people, work on my craft in front of others, and push myself beyond my comfort zone. But that single decision to connect opened doors I never could have imagined.
That club led me to develop the skills I needed for my preceptorship. It led me to meet my mentor, Dr. Ward, who traveled the country teaching the Gonstead method. And ultimately, it led me to become his partner and buy into an existing practice.
I wouldn't be here today if I hadn't prioritized connection.
