Hello, Dr. Howard Dennis, your certified high performance coach. Today we're going through our core sessions, and this makes it the 12th session, which completes a full quarter of the core sessions. This one is on commitment to high performance .
Grab your journal. We're going to work through five to seven questions in about 7-12 minutes. We'll make it short and sweet, but powerful.
My goals for today are to help you:
This is especially important since we're closing out the year and starting a new one. We need great momentum. If we don't have momentum going into next year, things fall flat. Then we let excuses win. We let complaining win, and it becomes a mess.
I've had a couple of clients and friends who have been sharing with me their momentum going into the new year. One actually has had to change his whole eating habits and quit alcohol completely.
He told me that alcohol had been a big stumbling block for him, and he made the choice to change. Today marks three months, and he is making huge progress. He's lost fat, feels better, his head's working better, his mind's working better, and he's got more energy.
I'm super stoked for him because this stuff works. We just need to make application.
Have you been thinking about those three words? If this is new to you today, what are three words that you could put on your tombstone that describe your best self?
If you need to create those, I recommend you close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and think about your best self standing right next to you. What would that best self look like? Who is that, and what three words would describe them?
Have you put those in your phone as reminders? Maybe at noon, maybe in the evening when you're in transition, to remind you who you ought to be being.
Are you committed to that? Are you being consistent with that? That's clarity.
How's your energy been lately? Are you showing up? Are you being present and vibrant when you show up? That's half the battle.
I've talked about my partner, Dr. Charlie Ward - he's one of the most present people I know. He can see multiple patients throughout the day and keep the energy going. One of the keys to that is being present in the moment with that patient, client member, or team member.
How have you been doing with your energy and presence? What's been working that you've been doing? Stick with that. What isn't serving you energy-wise? Cut that out.
Like my friend - he knew he needed to cut alcohol out of his life. Maybe for you it's something else that's self-soothing. Maybe it's scrolling, maybe it's opening the fridge too late at night, or other things.
How's your energy been? What's been working, and what are you going to work on to improve your energy going into the end of the year and start of the new year?
How has your progress been these past few months? What is your major move - your major goal, your major mission, your major project you want to finish by the end of this year and complete?
What is that? How's your progress with that? And never be afraid to ask yourself: Who do I need to reach out to for support on this?
We also talk about influence. Some people like to call it persuasion. I like to call it collaboration or relationships.
What's the major thing you need to do by the end of the year, or person you need to reach out to? What is the number one relationship that you're working on this year to finish this year strong?
What needs to happen to make that relationship stronger? Who do you need to reach out to? Who do you need to make that call to and have that conversation with?
Maybe you have to have a difficult conversation. Maybe it's not necessarily a bad thing, but maybe for the growth of that relationship to take the next step, you need to reach out and have a good discussion with that person.
Relationships are the number one thing for our health.
Are you being present in your relationships? Are you being vibrant? Are you showing up with your energy in your relationships?
Have you been living with purpose? What's driving you going forward? What's your big purpose in life going toward the end of the year and starting the next year?
What's driving you forward, and what's your purpose?
I've talked about quite a few things in these 12 live sessions that we've done for these core sessions, but I want to leave you with this story.
I remember when it was 2008-2009, I was losing a lot of money on some houses that I bought. It was so hard, and I had that difficult conversation with my wife. Pretty much, I had to let them go. It was humiliating. I lost our life savings and all that.
But it was the best thing I needed to do in my life.
Sometimes we have to do hard things. Sometimes we need to make a pivot in life, and I would recommend the sooner the better. Don't prolong that.
It may be just a bad habit that you need to let go of, but what do you need to start today to change your life?
And it can happen today.
