"There's No Failures, It's All Learning" - Your Forward Movement Check-In

Watch Dr. Howard Dennis share insights from his recertification week and guide you through a powerful forward movement assessment.

The Inspiration of Global Dedication

This past week was transformative for me. I completed my high performance coaching recertification - Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 PM Eastern - alongside coaches of all ages from around the world. Some were joining from Australia at 1 AM their time.

Their dedication was absolutely inspiring. It's amazing to see that many people committed to upping their game in life.

This experience reminded me of what high performance truly means: exceeding norms continuously over the long haul while maintaining your positive mental health and relationships.

This isn't about doing great at work while sacrificing your family, or focusing on just one area of your life. This is about being whole. It's holistic.

What Makes a Great Coach (And How You Can Coach Yourself)

During the recertification, I reflected on what makes a great coach. Let me share three key principles that you can apply to your own life:

1. Hold the Space

Great coaches hold space for clients to answer questions and determine how they want to write their new story. We help you see your world differently and guide you forward in a different way.

2. Listen Intently

We listen deeply, notice patterns, and guide you forward in the life you're creating.

3. Ask the Right Questions

The questions I'm about to share with you are the same ones that create breakthrough moments in coaching sessions.

Your Forward Movement Assessment

Grab your journal because these questions are designed to check in on your forward progress, the energy you're bringing to the table, the joy in your life, and your confidence levels.

Gratitude and Wins Assessment

What are you grateful for this past week? Write it down.

What are you grateful for this past year? What has gone really well? What are five things you've really "upped the ante" on this year that you're proud of?

Here's the crucial part: Why is each of these important to you? Don't just list what you're thankful for - dig into why it matters and how it feels.

One of mine: I've met incredible clients and members - people with great ambitions who want to move forward in life. Why is that important? Because I want to grow too. And it feels amazing meeting people who are on fire, who take their time on this earth seriously and want to do something great.

Learning from Challenges

What hasn't gone so well this year? Write it down honestly.

What have you learned from those experiences? Why is it important that you've made note of this? If you keep allowing negative patterns to continue, how will that feel?

Here's something powerful I learned from fellow coaches: they were thankful for their failures and hard times because they used everything as a learning experience.

My friend Ben Altana, a highly successful person in my eyes, always says: "There's no failures. It's all learning. No failures."

We can use everything for learning.

Your Next 12 Months

What are your big goals for the next 12 months? Write them down.

Why are these goals important to you?

How will it feel when you accomplish them?

When you're looking toward your next year and your best self, what's that next best step for you?

The Power of Enjoying the Process

I want to share something important about a dear friend who passed away at 41 from Lou Gehrig's disease. He learned to enjoy every day and every step of the way, rather than just going from one goal to another.

If we don't enjoy the process, there's not much satisfaction in life.

So here's what I want you to do: Celebrate your wins this week. Pat yourself on the back. There's nothing wrong with that. These celebrations are intertwined in the fibers of our lives and help us gain momentum.

If we're not celebrating, we're not truly feeling our days or our lives, and that affects us in negative ways.

What are you looking forward to this year? How will you celebrate each week? How will you celebrate when you reach your goals?
