Declaration Session #3: SUSTAINED MOTIVATION - Building Your Motivational Muscle

Uncategorized Apr 01, 2026

Hello, Dr. Howard Dennis here, your certified High Performance Coach.

Today we're going to talk about Declaration Session #3: Sustained Motivation .

We know from past sessions that I've talked about having your three words —those three words that describe your best self. What are your three words that are part of your identity and make up your best self?

We want to live into those words.

And we want to talk about motivation and creating necessity in our life.

Here's the truth: Motivation is like a muscle. The more we work at it, the stronger we get.

Six Questions About Sustained Motivation

We're going to go over about six questions today. Pull out your journal and answer these questions.

The whole point of this is to identify what would make you feel even more motivated . And we want you to get bold and tactical about your big goals in life.

Remember: High performance is about performing above the norms consistently, day in and day out, while maintaining positive relationships and positive health.

It's all about being preemptive —planning this out before it happens.

1. What is your greatest motivating ambition in your life right now?

Write that down. What is your greatest motivating ambition in your life right now?

2. Why is that ambition important to you versus other things you could be doing or focusing on?

Why is that ambition important to you versus other things you could be doing or focusing on right now?

Write that out. Why is it so important to you?

3. How are you reminding yourself to stay motivated to achieve that ambition?

What are you doing, saying, feeling, reminding yourself of to stay motivated to achieve that ambition?

4. What habits could you begin to keep yourself even more motivated?

What habits could you start to keep yourself even more motivated?

5. What targets or milestones would you have to reach or hit to maintain even more motivation?

What are those targets? What are those milestones?

6. How could you help someone who's important in your life or their career become even more motivated?

This is a big one.

The Power of Mentoring

I know that in my chiropractic office, we have students come in who are going into that profession. They can do a preceptorship where they observe for days.

And when you put yourself in a position to help teach something that's beyond you , that really helps spike motivation. It really keeps you on your game.

Also, with coaching—helping other coaches become better coaches is a great way to step your game up.

Who are you mentoring today?

One of the best things to get out of ourselves is to help someone .

That's what I want you to do today: Step out of yourself and become that best self that you can become.
