Charge Session #12: CELEBRATION & The 10 Human Drives - Wrapping Up Your Journey

Uncategorized Mar 11, 2026

Hello, Dr. Howard Dennis here, your certified High Performance coach.

We're talking about the Charge Sessions today, and this is our final session —number 12, titled CELEBRATION .

The other day, I had forgotten that yesterday, February 16th, was my 30th anniversary of graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic.

And that reminded me of something crucial: It is very important to pause, take inventory, and celebrate your wins.

Because our wins are interwoven into our fibers. They become us.

Wrapping Up the 10 Human Drives

Today we're going to wrap up these Charge Sessions—these 10 human drives that help us spark and charge ourselves going forward.

I'm not going to read each definition again, but I want you to pull out your journal and let's get busy being proactive in our lives.

I've said this many times: High performance is about maintaining positive relationships and our health while consistently exceeding norms in every part of our life.

And to do this, we need to be proactive .

So I hope you go back to the previous 11 sessions and review the statements I made for each charge. See if you agree with those statements and rank yourself on a scale of 1-10.

The 10 Human Drives: A Quick Review

1. CONTROL (Autonomy & Agency)

What do you rate yourself in control? Your agency? Your understanding of how congruent your actions are with your thoughts, feelings, and who you want to be?

2. COMPETENCE

Are you growing your skills and knowledge?

3. CONGRUENCE

Are your actions aligned with your values?

4. CARING

Are you telling and showing people you care?

5. CONNECTION

Are you connecting with those around you? Are you building that circle?

It's not "me," it's "we." The quality of our circle is huge. Relationships are number one for our health.

Dr. John Maxwell says it's very important who you surround yourself with. And it's very important that you have people around you who love you —because people who truly love you will call you out on your BS.

Many times we have good reasons to skip workouts or eat crappy food. But that doesn't make it right. And good friends won't let us do it for long .

6. CHANGE

How much are you working change into your calendar? We need to force change upon ourselves, keep it real, and grow.

7. CHALLENGE

We've got to challenge ourselves.

8. CREATIVE EXPRESSION

Remember we talked about taking that guitar lesson? Maybe it's painting. Maybe it's speaking.

When we're being creative or making time to think creative thoughts, that puts us into our best selves and the best part of our brain .

9. CONTRIBUTION

This is the epitome of everything. What are we contributing to society?

This can be with our time—it doesn't have to be money. What are we contributing with our money? With our love to others?

10. CONSCIOUSNESS

Being conscious and present about all these things.

Your Action Steps for Each Drive

For each of these 10 drives, I want you to think: What's one new thought or behavior I could do to increase this area?

For example, with control or autonomy—what could you do to take charge or be more accountable?

I can't remember if I told you this story in this session, but I once lost an extreme amount of money in my savings. One of the best things I did—a new thought, a new behavior—was this:

I literally wrote 250 statements down about why losing almost half a million dollars made me a better person.

And it got me into a better attitude and thought process. Sometimes we need to do these things to pull ourselves out of the trenches .

Key Questions to Journal

As you go through these drives, ask yourself:

1. What do you enjoy most in life?

Which of the drives do you enjoy most?

2. What is the biggest thing you've improved on?

Write that out. Journal it.

3. What is the ONE thing you need to work on in the next 60-90 days?

For your business? For your family or personal life?

Calendarize that. Write it out. Keep it top of mind.

4. What motivates you the most?

Is it your family? Your business? Maybe it's that special person in your life. Maybe it's becoming a better doctor, a better businessperson, a better person for your family.

What is it that motivates you the most?

Write that out. What does that feel like?

This is important—we need to visualize ourselves so we can be our best selves and be proactive in life.
